A gang of fraudsters and thieves “lifted” the safe that an elderly couple had in their home, in which they kept jewelry and watches worth tens of thousands of euros.

According to information, the incident happened early at noon on Tuesday (25/10) with the elderly couple to welcome another pair of prospective tenants to his apartment of another house they have. For the sake of protection from the coronavirus, the couple of scammers told the elderly to sit on the balcony as the weather allowed for such a thing.

However, upon entering the couple’s apartment, they had artificially arranged for the door not to close completely and for at least one of their accomplices to enter and make the house “leaf and feather”. He even had plenty of time at his disposal, as the negotiations for the rental of the other apartment by the alleged candidates lasted more than 15 minutes. The result was that the accomplice or accomplices found the safe in the bedroom of the apartment and robbed it.

By the time the elders realized what had happened it was too late. Immediate Action and the Papagou – Cholargou Security Department were informed, where they reported that the safe contained jewelry and watches worth approximately 150,000 euros and some cash. Police took fingerprints and are looking for footage from security cameras that may have captured the perpetrators.
