The project “Athenian Riviera – Urban Promenade” which will be auctioned from TAIPED and will be manufactured by Region of Atticahas secured funding of 24.7 million euros as it is part of the National Recovery and Resiliency Plan “Greece 2.0”.
The specific project is part of an overall budget action of approximately 475 million euros, which will change the shape of the coastal front of Attica. It concerns the remodeling of the beach front in a length of more than 20 kilometers from Kallithea to Vouliagmeni, and includes the creation of cycle paths, consolidation of spaces, pedestrian paths and other facilities.
During the meeting, a presentation was made of the preliminary study prepared by TAIPED in collaboration with the involved municipalities and the Region, comments and suggestions were made which the authorities will incorporate into the final draft of the study, so that the process can proceed.
The undersecretary A. Schertzos he underlined the importance that the government gives to important renovations like this one and asked all the agencies involved to cooperate in order to finish the project within the schedule. Both Eth. Bakoyannis as well as P. Stamboulidis, emphasized that with the recording and recording of the technical issues that were raised, the process will proceed in a short period of time, according to the planning.
On the occasion of the meeting, the regional governor Giorgos Patoulis pointed out that “another small stone has been added to this important effort that is being made in order to implement this visionary project that will radically change the coastal front of Attica”. The project, he added, will upgrade the beach front, and if we take into account “the regeneration projects of Falirikos Ormos implemented by the Region, the regeneration in Elliniko, but also other projects with a strong development sign, then we can talk about a beach front that is changing radically and signals our will to move into the next day of development and prosperity in the wider region”.
The meeting was also attended by Mr. of Spatial Planning and Urban Environment, Ed. Bakoyiannis, the authorized advisors of TAIPED and ETADP. Stamboulidis and P. Balomenos, the mayors of Alimos A. Kondylis, Varis-Voulas-Vouliagmenis G. Konstandellos, Glyfada G. Papanikolaou, Ellinikou-Argyroupoli G. Konstantatos, the general secretary of the municipality of Palaio Faliro P. Karoumbalis and executives.
