“I always avoided telling the voters who they were voting for, in Greece or elsewhere,” says director Kostas Gavras
The internationally renowned director made a clarifying statement Kostas Gavrasresponding to reports that he is politically allied with Alexis Tsipras and SYRIZA.
“I am learning that I am attributed a political alliance with Mr. Alexis Tsipras. I always avoided telling the voters who they were voting for, in Greece or elsewhere. That’s how I interpreted my words, I regret them. That was not my intention. Maybe I expressed myself badly, vaguely, insufficiently. Or my words were interrupted. I voted that Mr. Tsipras can beat Mr. Mitsotakis in the elections. For me, Tsipras will remain the one who betrayed the Greek people after the Referendum, with the help of the Right”.
He adds that “in today’s context, I see only a modern, radical, coherent political program that could respond to the social problems of Greece. And much further, in a world that leads to multiple disasters. This is the political program of Yanis Varoufakis.
This statement is not a call to vote, but a call for information. In this sense, it is an invitation inspired by his own book, on which the film I directed “Adults in the Hall” was based, with which I trace the extremes of the European Union and the subjugation of Greek politicians.”
