Offering organs to five of our fellow human beings

The life of five fellow human beings was offered by a 63-year-old woman who passed away in Crete on the day of Agios Minas.

The woman had been hospitalized with a severe stroke for the past few days at the Heraklion University Hospital, and her relatives gave their consent for the organ donation procedure and so began the usual medical effort that lasted over 12 hours to retrieve vital organs.

The marathon process it was completed a while ago and doctors from the Hippocrates Hospital of Thessaloniki received the liver and kidneys while the corneas remained in Heraklion and will be offered to patients in Crete.

The Deputy Governor of PAGNI Stelios Kteniadakis referred to the matter in his post, pointing out:

“The strength of the soul of a family, through the grief of their loss, offered life to three of our fellow human beings. The reception for transplantation of life-giving organs and practical proof of humanity and empathy was completed at PaGNI a little while ago. Condolences to the family and deep bow. ..”
