Traffic was disrupted yesterday afternoon when a lorry overturned and flammable material fell on the road
Traffic has been restored on the Athens-Thessaloniki highway, as the operation to remove the flammable material from the tanker truck that overturned yesterday noon on Wednesday at the Gyrtoni junction, outside Larissa, was completed.
The fire engines that rushed to the scene where the tanker had overturned poured tons of water and foam to quell the danger of fire and explosions.
For precautionary reasons, the fire department had also requested the suspension of train traffic, resulting in significant delays.
In particular, from 18.15 on Wednesday afternoon, the traffic between Larissa and Litochoro was stopped by the police. Train 61 stopped in Evangelismos and 58 in Larissa, according to Hellenic Train. In order to serve the passenger public and arrive at their final destination, Hellenic Train routed buses through the old National Road, between the two points where there was a traffic ban by the Authorities.
