Public opinion is shocked by allegations of immoral acts and sexual abuse of at least one person who had been housed in structures of the Ark of the World organization, which for more than two decades has housed and cared for children led by Father Antonio. In an official statement, the organization declared its ignorance of the complaints and placed itself at the disposal of the authorities, in order to fully clarify the case.
Already, however, the complaints of a 19-year-old, currently a former guest in the organization’s structures, have provoked the reaction of the Prosecutor’s Office, which has ordered preliminary investigation in order to investigate The complaints, according to the facts known so far about the case, concern abusive behavior in general, but also specifically sexual abuse of minors. According to information, in fact, after the initial complaint, two more followed with similar content from two other persons.
The reason for the investigation – which according to what has been known so far extends to six structures of the Ark – was the submission of relevant complaints to the Ombudsman.
The Advocate completed the investigation which he submitted to the public prosecutor’s office, with the latter ordering a preliminary investigation which he assigned to the department Protection of Minors of Security. Today, in fact, it is expected that an investigation will also be requested in order to establish how elements of the case file, which has not yet been returned to the prosecution by the Security, were leaked.
From the moment the public prosecutor’s investigation into the complaints became known, however, the Ministry of Labor “froze” the process of allocating the EFKA building to the non-governmental organization. As announced, the provision that was included in the bill for the rationalization of the insurance legislation for granting the use of EFKA property to the “Ark of the World” is being withdrawn. following the preliminary investigation that was ordered and concerns negligence against minors.
“The relevant initiative was taken for the first time by the SYRIZA government and recently it was decided to promote legislation by the current government in order to complete the concession in question.
Until the final clarification of this case, any related movement is suspended.”
However, the organization itself declared complete ignorance for the complaints , and at the same time condemned such incidents. The organization declares that it is at the disposal of the authorities to provide every element and assistance with the aim of fully elucidating the case.
