by

The arrests occurred in the context of patrols carried out by police officers of the Immigration Management Department of the Directorate of Foreigners in Thessaloniki on Egnatia Street.

The authorities in Thessaloniki proceeded to arrest two people as they were found to be transporting foreigners illegally, in special caches, in trucks.

According to a police announcement, as part of patrols on Egnatia Street, police officers of the Immigration Management Department of the Directorate of Aliens in Thessaloniki, at the intersections of Asprovalta and Kerdyllia respectively, detected, on two different occasions, the same number of trucks illegally transporting, in special caches, foreigners who lacked documents for their legal stay in Greek territory.

The two foreign drivers, a 23-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man, were arrested, and charges were filed against them.

It is noted that the vehicle driven by the 19-year-old foreigner was found to have fake license plates and the investigation revealed that it had been reported stolen in September of this year at a police station in the Prefecture of Attica.
