The Federation of Private Employees of Greece (OIYE) has announced a 24-hour nationwide strike in the trade sector for today.

The stores will be open today, Sunday, November 27, 2022, with optional opening hours from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

It is noted that in recent statements the president of the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vassilis Korkidis, had stated that the function of this particular Sunday, November 27, is of particular importance for trade as it is between Black Friday and Cyber Monday and consumers will be able to their research in order to proceed with purchases.

As Mr. Korkidis points out, the company “put its back” in trying to keep prices at reasonable levels, in a difficult situation for all European economies, absorbing as much as possible the increases dictated by the international crisis in energy field.

“This year”, as mentioned by Mr. Korkidis, “the Sunday operation of commercial stores in November is not included in the period of intermediate sales, but the institution of Black Friday seems to have piqued the interest of consumers and the commercial world is trying to attract, but also to help consumers with low prices. At the same time, it is a real incentive for the consumer, who is currently under financial pressure, to shop for products that meet their current needs at the best price. There is a sufficiency of products, plenty of good prices for all the pots and there is also a lot of competition in the market.”

In the meantime, the Federation of Private Employees of Greece (OIYE) has called for today, a 24-hour nationwide strike in the trade sector, “against the insistence of the government and the Ministry of Development that the shops operate, without any logic at all” as it states in its relevant announcement .
