EODY announced the last week’s data on the pandemic in our country

In the week from November 21 to November 27 they were recorded 43,914 new cases of COVID-19 of which reinfections account for 28% of infections.

As announced by EODY, in the last week another 118 deaths of patients with coronavirus were recorded, while those intubated amount to 93.

The EODY report in more detail:

In the reporting week, 43,914 cases of COVID-19 were recorded (4,209 per million population: -19% weekly change) of which reinfections account for 28% of infections.

The total number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic amounts to 5,404,690 of which 52.2% are women.

𝑅𝑡 for the territory based on cases is estimated at 0.86 (95% CI: 0.73 – 0.91).

The total number of admissions to the territory’s hospitals in the reference week was 1,283 patients (7-month period: 183, -6% weekly change), while the total discharges amounted to 1,250 patients (7-month period: 179, 9% weekly change).3 The number of intubated patients by the end of the reporting week is 93 (71.0% men) with a median age of 74 years and 89.2% having an underlying disease and/or age of 70 years or older.

In the reference week, 118 deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded (11 per million population: -26% weekly change) of which 17 (14%) died after at least 29 days from the date of laboratory confirmation of the COVID-19 infection, while since the beginning of the epidemic, a total of 34,309 deaths have been recorded, with 96.1% having an underlying disease and/or age 70 years or older.

The median age of the cases is 39 years, while the median age of the dead is 80 years.

Tested samples

In the reference week, the positivity rate was 6.79% in a total of 647,207 laboratory tests (RT-PCR/Rapid-Ag) with a seven-day average of 92,458 samples (-4% weekly change).

From January 1, 2020 to November 27, 2022, in the laboratories that carry out tests for SARSCoV-2 and that systematically declare all the samples they test, a total of 13,193,674 have been tested (7-month AD: 9,005, -4% weekly change) clinical samples, while 87,090,822 samples have been tested by Health Units and Levels of the EODY that carry out Rapid Ag tests (7-month AD: 83,453, -4% weekly change).

EODY Mass Sampling: In the reporting week, 838 sample control actions were carried out by the EODY Mobile Health Teams (COMY), in which 51,433 Rapid Ag tests were performed and 6,878 were found positive (13%).

What does the sewage show?

During the week of November 21 to 27, 2022, an increasing trend was observed compared to the week of November 14 to 20, 2022, in the average weekly viral load of SARS-CoV-2 in municipal wastewater in one of the eight (1/8) areas tested by the National Wastewater Epidemiology Network (EDEL) of the EODY and downward trends in seven of the eight regions (7/8) of the EDL.

A clear upward trend in the average weekly load of municipal wastewater was observed in Heraklion (+55%).

Net downward trends were observed in Agios Nikolaos (-60%), Ioannina (-55%), Corfu (-45%) and Patras (-43%), while the decrease was marginal in Thessaloniki (-25%) in Chania (-21%) and Attica (-12%).
