The former prosecutor of the Supreme Court Xeni Dimitrioufor the second day today, testified at the Special Court where the former Deputy Minister of Justice, Dimitris Papagelopoulos and the former head of the Corruption Prosecution, Eleni Touloupaki, are on trial.

In more detail, Mrs. Dimitriou, during the 21st day of the trial at the Special Court on Ministerial Responsibility, stated that “Dimitris Papagelopoulos never interfered in her work” and added that not even her colleagues Eleni Raikou and Panagiotis Athanasiou had spoken to her about any interference in their work on behalf of the accused,

In a related question about the party identity given to her by Eleni Raikou, the witness replied: “Not only do I not have a party identity, but no party fits me, I am a free person who has sacrificed for Justice. If I was chosen by the government at the time, it is probably because the minister at the time knew about my work and my actions in prisons, at KETHEA, and with minors.”

Mrs. Dimitriou also referred to the well-known visit of the then government representative (of the SYRIZA – ANEL government) Dimitris Tzanakopoulos to her office. Specifically, Mrs. Dimitriou said: “Shortly before the case file for the political figures came, Mr. Tzanakopoulos came to my office. He had made the appointment days ago. I wanted the politicians to come to my office and up there I said that Mr. Tzanakopoulos had come. He asked me about Novartis, I told him it was moving forward and he left. I didn’t know that Mrs. Touloupaki would also come.”

The trial continues next Monday, December 5, 2022.
