The president of the Court of Auditors was also awarded an honorary doctorate by the Law School of Thessaloniki

One of the rare times, when university institutions actually honor sitting supreme judges by declaring honorary doctorates, happened a few days ago in Panteion University. The University awarded him an honorary doctorate John Sharma,President of the Court of Auditors (one of the three highest courts of the country) by unanimous decision of the assembly of the Department of Public Administration of the Faculty of Sciences, Economy and Public Administration.

For President of the Court of Auditorsa high-profile jurist who enjoys general acceptance, was the second honorary title in a row, as last May he was awarded an honorary doctorate of Law School of the University of Thessalonikiwhile in a special event he was also honored by the University of Athens.

During the award ceremony, Professor Xenofontas Kontiadis presented Mr. Sharma’s writing work and many years of legal experience, initially at the Council of State, for twelve years at the European Court of Auditors and then at the Court of Auditors of our country, where the three in recent years he has also been its President.

The president of the Department, associate professor Antonios Chanos, read the resolution of the assembly for the awarding of the President of the Supreme Court an honorary doctorate, while the professor Theodosis Palaskas presented the awarding of Mr. Sharma and the rector of the Panteion, professor Christina Koulouri, awarded him the title with the ritual of receiving the tevenno.

In his opposition, Mr. Sharmas developed the issue of “consensus as a practical application of fair balance, its role and limits in administrative reforms” and closing, he pointed out: “With gratitude in this sacred place of thought, I accept the honor given to me you did, hoping to prove myself worthy of your confidence.’

The ceremony was attended by the presidents of the Council of State and the Supreme Court, Evangelia Nika and Maria Georgiou, the former presidents of the Council of State, Christos Geraris, Mary Sharp and Dimitrios Skaltsounis, the Commissioner General of the Administrative Courts Dimitrios Kostakis, the Commissioner General of Court of Auditors Stamatios Poulis, as well as acting and honorary supreme judges.
