By sheer luck, a resident of Istiaia Evia was spared his life, when he was attacked by a fellow villager who rushed at him brandishing a hatchet and hit him with it, injuring him, fortunately not seriously.
The near-tragedy unfolded on Tuesday night in the village of Istiaia, when the two villagers who have a long-standing dispute quarreled once more and one of them attacked the other by hitting him on the head with a hatchet.
In contrast, the 55-year-old hit the 44-year-old on the head with the cleaver, who was taken unconscious to the local Health Center.
The victim was then taken by ambulance to the Chalkida hospital, where he is being treated out of danger. The 55-year-old perpetrator is currently testifying at the Chalkida prosecutor’s office, as he faces the charge of attempted murder.
