According to the research director of the Geodynamic Institute, these are aftershocks of 5 Richter that occurred in the evening of November 29
The seismologists are reassuring about the earthquakes up to 4.3 Richter that occurred last night and today in the Evia region.
As Professor Mr. Lekkas stated yesterday on SKAI radio, yesterday’s earthquake of 4.3 Richter and the activity that followed, is part of the post-seismic sequence of the earthquake of 5.1 Richter and is on the same seismic fault of Zaraki Evia, near Nea Styra.
“We cannot be absolutely sure, but we believe that the fault has exhausted its capacity and we are entering a period of normality,” said the professor.
Gerasimos Papadopoulos, director of research at the Geodynamic Institute, told APE-MPE that they are aftershocks of the magnitude 5 earthquake that occurred on the night of November 29.
“We have, he stressed, a smooth post-earthquake sequence and there is no cause for concern.”
