The case file concerning SYRIZA executives, specifically Alekos Flampouraris, Alexis Haritsis, Stavros Arachovitis and Maki Balaoura, for the Follie Follie case, was filed with the Financial Prosecutor’s Office.
The case was brought to justice after the management audit carried out on the company by Price Water House Coopers. The 200-page report included e-mails to Follie’s “strong man” George Kourtsiouli. In these e-mails, the company employee referred by name to the above SYRIZA executives, claiming that they were trying to favor the management of Follie Follie, while the scandal with the falsified balance sheets had already been revealed.
The investigation carried out did not reveal any evidence to substantiate the offenses of bribery.
The Financial Prosecutor’s Office, however, sent copies of the case file to the Athens Prosecutor’s Office in order to investigate whether Makis Balaouras, the company employee, and Dimitris and George Koutsolioutsos had committed the misdemeanor of “influencing trafficking”. That is, the promise of benefit, falsely or truthfully, to government officials, so that they can perform an act or omission that is related to the performance of their duties.
