One of Eva Kaili’s lawyers, Michalis Dimitrakopoulos, made statements to Corriere Della Sera, stressing that the former vice-president of the European Parliament is innocent and living a nightmare in prison. At the same time, Mr. Dimitrakopoulos referred to the fact that the 22-month-old child of Ms. Kailis is only with his grandfather.
Among other things, Mr. Dimitrakopoulos emphasized to Corriere Della Sera that “Eva Kaili in prison lives a nightmare, a disaster because she is innocent. The only person who visited her on Christmas Day was her father.
“After reading the research files, she feels betrayed. Her name was used without her knowledge, before the day of her arrest she knew nothing about the money found in the house, the money was not hers nor did she keep it.’
When asked if Kaili will be released from prison, will she stay in Belgium or return to Greece, Mr. Dimitrakopoulos noted that “she will remain in Belgium and fight until her innocence is recognized.”
Finally referring to her child, Mr. Dimitrakopoulos emphasized that “her heart literally bleeds for her 22-month-old childwhich is alone and can only rely on his aged grandfather.’
