Free with the agreement of the investigator and the prosecutor, the 17-year-old accused of a sexual act without the consent of an 18-year-old woman during a Christmas party in the early hours of Monday, December 26, in the Souroti area of Thermi municipality, was released at noon on Thursday.
The youngster he apologized to the investigator and denied the charges against him. According to his lawyer, Theodoros Simopoulos, he is in a bad psychological state.
As he pointed out: “Today the 17-year-old apologized to the investigator after hearing from us and from the Prosecutor. The unanimous decision of both was to release him with the only restrictive condition of not communicating with the complainant, to which we ourselves had also consented. We had stated it directly. He himself is in a very bad psychological state. It was an unprecedented and shocking event for him. From the first moment he declares that he has not committed any crime. After all, accusation is not the basic form of rape, but without the consent of the victim. Of course, he himself says that everything that happened was done with the consent of the complainant. He will try to recover psychologically and we will see the next steps.”
According to his lawyer, in the forensic examination there is “no finding of injuries or any other evidence to support the act for which the 17-year-old is accused”. Mr. Simopoulos adds that during the party at home the defendant’s parents and other children were present, arguing that the act for which he is accused could not have been committed.
“An act of such gravity could not be done without someone noticing the slightest thing. The 17-year-old declares his innocence from the first moment,” he said.
It is recalled that a lawsuit was filed against the young man on Monday by the 18-year-old for indecent acts against her, without her consent, during a Christmas party. The distressed girl claimed the 17-year-old isolated her and sexually abused her.
