Almost a family drama in Larissa when a 50-year-old doused the car in which his ex-wife and their child were traveling with gasoline
Upheaval prevailed yesterday at 6 pm in the central square of Larissa, when a 50-year-old man with a can of gasoline in his hand threatened to set himself on fire.
He claimed that he is facing family problems and cannot see his child. Police immediately arrived at the scene and after several minutes of dialogue managed to immobilize him and arrest him.
Before this whole scene unfolded, the 50-year-old man of Albanian origin had been outside his ex-wife’s house in the Agios Athanasios district waiting for her, as reported in the “Eleftheria” newspaper, and then he doused the car in which she and the their 15-year-old son.
Fortunately, the worst was averted, as their son calmly intervened.
A little later, the 50-year-old went to the central square, where he threatened to set himself on fire.
He was arrested, detained and today Friday he will be brought before the public prosecutors, accused of attempted murder against his wife, while the motives of the perpetrator are being investigated by the security sub-directorate of Larisa.
