In the presence of the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Jerome performed in the morning, at the Metropolitan Church of Athens, the established Doxology on the occasion of the beginning of the new calendar year. Bishop Oreon Filotheos, chief secretary of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, concurred.
“May the new year be a blessed, peaceful, healthy year and with every precaution in our actions”, wished His Beatitude.
It was attended by the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Metropolitan Theodoritos of Laodicea, director of the Representative Office of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Athens, Metropolitan George of Guinea, representative of Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria and All Africa in Greece, Archimandrite Raphael Grivas, Exarch of the Holy Sepulcher in Athens, ministers, representatives of foreign Churches, parties and the Parliament, local authorities, the Armed Forces, the Fire Service and the Greek Police. Master of Ceremonies at the Doxology was archimandrite Varnavas Theoharis of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens.
Afterwards, Archbishop Hieronymos went to presidential palace in order to wish Katerina Sakellaropoulou for the new year in PtD.
