Strict measures, including the cancellation of all mass celebrations and the universal use of masks indoors and outdoors, are suggested by the Infectious Diseases Commission to the government in order to be implemented immediately, before Christmas.
In detail, the new measures proposed provide for the following:
- Cancellation of all mass festive events in open spaces (festivals, events etc)
- Matches without the presence of fans in the stadiums
- Mandatory tests (rapid or PCR) for travelers coming to Greece, at all gates of the country on the 2nd and 4th day after their arrival
- Mandatory use of mask indoors and outdoors even if it is not crowded
- Mandatory mask of increased protection KN95 or double in supermarkets and Public Transport.
Next week, the Commission will discuss measures again after 3 January.
Among those put on the table were restrictions on the operation of hours in catering and entertainment, restrictions on people per sq.m. in closed spaces and expansion of teleworking.
In addition, the experts discussed monoclonal antibodies and decided to extend the dosing criteria so that as many patients as possible could receive them immediately, as they are not effective against the Omicron mutation.
