In samples taken daily the weekly average price until Monday 16/01/2023 remained stable (+1%)
Indications of stabilization of SARS-CoV-2 viral load in its municipal waste Thessaloniki are recorded in the most recent measurements for the research, conducted by the Wastewater Epidemiology Group of AUTH with EYATH, in collaboration with the Region of Central Macedonia and within the National Network of EODY.
Specifically, in the samples taken daily at the entrance of the Thessaloniki wastewater treatment facility, regarding the rationalized values of relative viral load secretion, the weekly average value until Monday 16/01/2023 remained stable (+1%). The gradual increase in the viral load of the sewage had started in the last week of November, continued throughout December, with the highest values of the month also being maintained during the first ten days of January.
The methodology for assessing the coronavirus in urban waste, developed by the AUTH team, rationalizes the concentration measurements of the virus genome based on 24 environmental factors, which can alter the results of the measurements.
