The information that the pilots gave the ejection signal is not confirmed, and now the prevailing thing is that the squadron leader and the pilot who were on board, did not have time to leave the fighter. The pilots were flying “low cruise”, meaning they were flying at a very low altitude – less than 300 feet. About the downing of the fighter he informed the second aircraft that were performing the training exercise as a pair. It is noted that at the point of the plane’s fall the depth of the sea reaches 1,000 meters.

At the moment, a search and rescue operation is underway with floating and aerial means south of Strofades in the Kyparissia Gulf, specifically 8 nautical miles, west of Katakolo. To search for the two pilots, two Air Force AB-205 helicopters, a Navy S-70 helicopter and Coast Guard vessels have rushed to the area, while a C-130 aircraft is on maximum alert.
