Golden Dawn trial: “We entered pilots to hide…” testimony about the last moments before the murder of Pavlos Fyssas

“The murder of Pavlos Fyssas was a political act by an organized group of gold diggers” said the witness and friend of Pavlos Fyssas

In the last moments before his friend’s murder Pavlou Fyssa Michalis Xypolitos told the court that is trying the criminal organization Chrysi Avgi, as the partner of the musician Chrysos Tosloukos was not even present in the courtroom at today’s session.

Mr. Xypolitos recounts to the court what happened on the night of the murder of Pavlos Fyssas, from the moment he and six other friends went from a coffee shop where they were sitting, to the “Koralli” coffee shop where the musician was with his girlfriend and another person, to watch the football match together.

The witness stated that the attack they received was a political act by an organized group of gold diggers. In fact, as he has testified, he has identified three of the defendants for the murder of his friend, as the people who were inside “Koralli”, shortly before “people with clubs, with big sticks” began to gather outside the store.

As the witness testified when they got up to leave at the end of the match, they saw people gathering outside the cafe and around the area where they had parked their cars.

“I saw some people with sticks hitting the bumper of a car with them,” said the witness who added that “there was a strange movement” and that they felt threatened.

“Then a gentleman comes out, he introduced himself to us as a policeman (Dimitris Hatzistamatis) and tells us, “Guys, don’t make a fuss”. We told him we would have left if we could get our cars. He also went to those who had gathered in the cars. He turns around and tells us “the kids are from the neighborhood and they say you should leave”. Pavlos then replies “I’m from the neighborhood too”, described the witness who said that after 10 minutes they decided to leave.

When they crossed to leave on foot across the street, two DIAS machines also arrived, as the witness said, who then heard “”come here chickens, we will slaughter you”. Then Paul said to them “we run now, we run”. Four of us started running in the same direction. We entered pilots to hide. We notified the Police. There were motorbikes passing through the narrow streets looking and shouting “hens get out”, the witness said.

Mr. Xypolitos testified that he saw Roupakias’ car pass and behind him “two-wheeled” motorcycles lined up that appeared to be with him. “They didn’t pass. It was a group,” the witness said.

Pavlos Fyssa’s friends called the police, according to the witness. When the patrol car arrived, they handcuffed them and took them to the Keratsini Police Station where, after stripping them for a physical check, they were put in the same area as Roupakias, who they initially mistook for a police officer. “Roupakias was sitting in an office, we mistook him for a police officer. We even asked him for permission to talk on the phones and he already gave it to us. He was asking us if there was an altercation, if we are politicized, what happened, why we were brought here. He was very comfortable. The only moment he was stressed was when we spoke on the phone and learned about Pavlos. Then he asked to be transported,” the witness described.

As the musician’s friend said until they were taken to the Department, they did not know about Pavlos. He even mentioned that they heard from the radio of the patrol car that “someone was stabbed” and that they were calling for reinforcements. In questions, the witness said about this scene that they did not know who the stabbed person was, but logically “it would be ours, since none of us had a knife”.

When examined by the Headquarters, the witness said that the people he saw inside the cafeteria were wearing camouflage pants and “seemed to have the same code”. He even pointed out that one of them was wearing a sleeveless T-shirt and a meander tattoo on his arm was visible.

The partner of Pavlos Fyssa was not found

At the beginning of the meeting, the president read a police document informing the court that the musician’s partner was not found at the house of a relative, in a provincial town, where a summons had been served, nor in Attica.

The defense commented on the absence of the witness, with one of the lawyers of the condemned leader of the criminal organization Nikos Michaloliakos stating that “what is happening to the witness is a mockery. It is a matter of substance” – said the advocate – “in 2023, an essential witness cannot hide, when someone has committed a culpable offense and they find him. It’s a mockery! Mrs. Tosloukou was not even called to the special investigators” said the advocate in a strong tone.
