A 31-year-old man was arrested last Wednesday, February 1, in the area of ​​Ano Liosion, by police officers of the Papagou-Cholargou Security Department, accused of theft from public hospital premises as a profession and as a follow-up, computer fraud as a follow-up and deprivation of the ability to drive .

According to ELAS, police officers who were investigating cases of theft from public hospital premises in Attica, identified the criminal activity of the accused, while they spotted him driving a car in Ano Liosia, without having a driver’s license.

As it emerged from the police investigation, the 31-year-old was going with his car to on-call public hospitals of Attica, in the afternoon or early morning hours, with the intention of committing thefts.

Taking advantage of the attendance of citizens and the mobility of doctors, he entered, without being noticed, offices, as well as rest and meeting areas of the medical and nursing staff.

When staff were away, he took money, valuables, mobile phones and bank cards.

Immediately after, the defendant proceeded to purchase various products, while fueling his vehicle, through contactless transactions, with the stolen bank cards.

Since the preliminary investigation so far, 10 cases of theft from hospitals have been solved, including 2 thefts of personal items from patients’ rooms.

The car he was using for his travels was confiscated, while it is noted that he has been arrested in the past for similar crimes.

The 31-year-old was taken to the Criminal Prosecutor of Athens, while the police investigation continues.
