A meeting to take measures to deal with the upcoming bad weather was held today, Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the Ministry of Citizen Protection, under Minister Takis Theodorikakos.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Citizen Protection, Eleftherios Oikonomou, the General Secretary of Public Order, Michael Karamalakis, the Chief of the Hellenic Police, Lieutenant General Konstantinos Skoumas and relevant officials.

In this direction, the competent police services are put on full operational readiness, in order to effectively support, with means and manpower, the planning of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection to deal with any problems that may arise.

For this purpose, reinforced levels of the traffic will monitor the national, urban and provincial road network, while the local Police Directorates of the Territory will be put on standby, being in constant communication with the Municipalities and Regional Authorities of the country.

In addition, with decisions to be issued by the competent police services, depending on the prevailing conditions, the use of anti-slip means becomes mandatory. To this end, strict controls will be carried out by special traffic crews who will be located at various key points of the road network.

It is recalled that vehicle drivers must know how to install and operate anti-skid devices, in order to ensure their correct use.

In any case, citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary movements and, if necessary, to be equipped with the prescribed anti-slip means and to take special precautions, following the instructions of the police and other authorities.

It is noted that on the website of the Hellenic Police (www.astynomia.gr) there is a special banner with traffic regulations, traffic interruptions as well as useful tips for road safety.
