The Metropolitans and Muftias of Thrace address a joint appeal to faithful Christians and Muslims to stand in solidarity with the earthquake victims of Turkey and Eastern Syria.
In particular, the four Metropolitans of Thrace point out, in their announcement, that “because the love that Christ taught us knows no borders, let us stand in solidarity with our neighbors who are living this tragedy, setting aside all distinctions of religion and nationality”.
Then, they call on the faithful to help in the immediate gathering of long-lasting food, bottled water and medicine, which will be sent to the affected areas.

“The undersigned four Metropolitans of Thrace, we appeal to the Christians of our Provinces and invite you to manifest our evangelical duty and our active support to our fellow human beings affected by the deadly earthquake in Turkey and eastern Syria.
First of all please increase your prayers to God so that he relieves the pain of those affected by the loss of their relatives.
Then, because the love that Christ taught us knows no borders, let us stand in solidarity with our neighbors who are living this tragedy, setting aside all distinctions of religion and nationality.
We appeal and ask for the help of those Christians who can help in the immediate gathering of long-lasting food, bottled water and medicine, which we will send to the affected areas to relieve the needs of our fellow human beings from the devastating earthquake in Turkey.”
The gathering of the materials will take place every day from today, Monday, February 6th to Sunday, February 12th, from 09:00 to 13:00 at the Offices of the Holy Metropolises in Didymoteicho, Xanthi, Alexandroupoli and Komotini.
The Muftis of Xanthi, Didymoteicho and Komotiniin turn, state that they are deeply shocked by the drama caused by the Turkish earthquake and emphasize that “we are neighbors and as neighbors we will help”.
