Traffic arrangements for the regeneration of Theater Square

Among others, they include total occupation of the road surface of Menandrou Street, from its junction with Sophokleous Street to its junction with Euripidou Street.

The Police will proceed with the implementation of temporary traffic regulations in the center of Athens due to works in the framework of the “Redevelopment of the Theater Square area” project.

In particular, from 13-2-2023 to 13-2-2024 and around the clock, the following traffic regulations will be implemented:

PHASE 1

– Complete occupation of the road surface of Menandrou Street, from its junction with Sofokleous Street to its junction with Euripidou Street.

– Vehicle traffic will be conducted via Sophokleous Street, left Sapphos, right Korinis, left Pl. Eleftherias towards Evripidou Street.

– Prohibition of stopping and parking on one side or on both sides on all roads, which are parts of bypass routes, based on the remaining clear free traffic width, where it cannot under any circumstances be less than 3.50m. for one-way streets and 6.00 m. for double.

– Two-way traffic on Sapphous Street, in the section from Korinis Street to Menandrou Street, with a parallel parking ban (full or partial).

– Single-lane Dilari street, in the section between Theatrou and Evripidou streets, with this direction of traffic, with a parallel ban on parking.

– Interruption of traffic on Pl. Theater and part of Theatrou Street.

– Vehicular traffic will be conducted through Diplari Street, to the left of Euripidou and then towards Athenas and Sophokleous Streets.

PHASE 2

– Total occupation of the road surface of Pl. Theatrou and Theatrou Street, from its junction with Menandrou Street to its junction with Sokratous Street.

– Complete occupation of the road surface of Diplari Street, from its junction with Theatrou Street to its junction with Evripidou Street.

– The traffic of Menandrou Street and Sapphos Street will return to the pre-Phase 1 situation. Traffic will be conducted through Menandros and Euripidou streets.

– Prohibition of stopping and parking on one side or on both sides on all roads, which are parts of the bypass routes, based on the remaining clear free traffic width, where it cannot under any circumstances be less than 3.50m. for one-way streets and 6.00 m. for double.

PHASE 3

– Total occupation of the road surface of Pl. Theatrou and Theatrou Street, from its junction with Menandrou Street to its junction with Diplari Street.

– Total occupation of the road surface of Sokratous Street from its junction with Sophokleous Street to its junction with Theatrou Street.

– Traffic on Theatrou Street, in the section between Sokratous Street and Dilari Street, will return to the pre-1st and 2nd Phase situation, while the one-way traffic on Dilari Street remains (1st Phase).

– Reversal of Sokratous street, in the section from Theatrou and Evripidou streets (going from Evripidou to Theatrou), with a simultaneous parking ban, to serve the underground parking area.

– Prohibition of stopping and parking on one side or on both sides on all roads, which are parts of bypass routes, based on the remaining clear free traffic width, where it cannot under any circumstances be less than 3.50m. for one-way streets and 6.00 m. for double.

PHASE 4

– Complete occupation of the road surface of Sokratous Street, from its junction with Theatrou Street to its junction with Evripidou Street.

– Total occupation of the road surface of Pl. Theatrou and Theatrou Street, from its junction with Menandrou Street to its junction with Diplari Street.

– The traffic of vehicles, coming from Sokratous Street, will be directed right on Sophokleous Street and through Menandrou Street they will end up on Euripidou Street.

– The movement of vehicles in the section of Sokratous Street from Sofokleous Street to Theatrou Street will only be carried out to serve the underground parking area, while the exit will be made from Theatrou Street and through Diplari Street (the one-way traffic of Phase 1 remains) will end at Evripidou Street. For this reason, parking is prohibited.

– Prohibition of stopping and parking on one side or on both sides on all roads, which are parts of the bypass routes, based on the remaining clear free traffic width, where it cannot under any circumstances be less than 3.50m. for one-way streets and 6.00 m. for double.

Drivers of vehicles are requested to be particularly careful when passing through the work sites and to follow the existing road markings.
