A rich festive program for young and old, parties, music and dancing are included in the Foundation’s festive events
Like every year, Halloween brings on Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) lots of music, dance and imaginative activities for children, in a rich festive program. On Sunday, February 26, a street band with Afro-Brazilian percussion, a brass band and a rock’n’roll band will rock Stavros Niarchos Park with their rhythms, while on Clean Monday, February 27, the SNFCC welcomes Lent with a spring mood, live sounds from the Greek musical tradition and, of course, the established flying of the kite.
The events for the Halloween and Shrove Monday most of them are held with free admission thanks to the donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
Here are the activities of the festive two-day event in detail:
Sunday, February 26
- Halloween in Stavros Niarchos Park with a street party flavor, disguises and lots of music
Every year, the Carnival at the SNFCC gives us an occasion to escape from the established and ourselves, as the message of this particular celebration dictates. Especially this year, beloved bands unite the ritual of the Halloween party with street culture. Dance rhythms, interactivity and unique happenings, “disguise” Stavros Niarchos Park, setting the tone for a Sunday different from the others.

- Vassilis Gerodimos, Here Faros! Hidden with Masks
(10:00-19:00, Lighthouse)
The SNFCC, steadily investing in the education and contact of children with art, includes in its program this year a new artistic action: From October, on the last Sunday of each month, children aged 4 to 12 have the opportunity to create a collaborative work of art with the guidance of renowned visual artists, broadcasting “Edo Pharos!”. In the area of the Lighthouse, there is already an art installation curated by the artist of the month, who then welcomes the children into the work and guides them in its development. In February, the artist of the month is the visual artist Vassilis Gerodimos. The children, with simple materials, make masks, hide behind them and, with the music as a guide, move the large landscape into the space creating a happy celebration. The project will be open to the general public after the workshops from 19:00 to 20:00. Tickets: 5 euros.
- Art workshop for children: “The carnival of animals otherwise”
(11:30-14:00, Mediterranean Garden, Stavros Niarchos Park)
On the occasion of Camille Saint Saëns’ well-known work “The Carnival of the Animals”, the children create shadow boxes that function as microcosms-rooms, in which the animals, having been transformed into fantastic colorful creatures, pose as other heroes of a story with a pop mood and aesthetics.
