The referral to a trial before the Mixed Jury Court of a total of ten defendants for the case of rape and sexual abuse of minor children in Petralona, for a number of years and up to 2016, by relatives and other persons close to them was decided by a will issued by the Council of Misdemeanors.

Judges order referral to trial on serious charges the father of the children, their uncle, the father’s brother, the father’s partner at the time, but also the father’s friends and employees.

According to the will, the ten defendants are facing, on a case-by-case basis, charges related to rape, sexual acts with minors under the age of fourteen and abuse of a minor, acts allegedly committed jointly and individually, consecutively.

The case reached the Court in 2018 after an appeal by two older children of a family from Petralona, who are now adults and who reported to the authorities their father for sexual abuse and also for promoting them to other adults.

The children’s complaint had given rise to a public prosecutor’s investigation.

The case had been forwarded to an investigator after criminal prosecution, while the two children had complained that their mother was also aware of what they had suffered from their father.
