A prosecutorial investigation is being conducted into the death of an infant “Agios Stylianos” municipal nursery. The little girl, aged 2.5 years, died today under unclear – so far – circumstances. At the same time, the Minister of Health Thanos Pleuris gave an order for the investigation of the case and the Hippocrate Hospital of Thessaloniki started a preliminary investigation.

The Criminal Prosecution Prosecutor, Sunday Kliaba ordered a preliminary examination to determine whether the offenses of exposure resulting in death, manslaughter with possible intent, manslaughter by negligence in any direction are established.

As part of the investigation assigned to the Crimes Against Life and Property Sub-Directorate, the medical files, documents from the institution and from the hospital concerning the child, the forensic report will be presented and all those involved will be asked to testify.

According to the information, the little girl was found unconscious this morning by the officials of the nursery, who tried to revive her with resuscitations, but without success. In fact, during their effort, outside Agios Stylianos, an ambulance and a mobile unit of the EKAB arrived, along with a police patrol car, in order to be transported immediately by “Bridge of Life” at the on-call hospital. However, this did not happen, as the little girl ended up.

A day before, he had been admitted to an emergency hospital for tests but was discharged.
