Starting today, the Market Pass platform is open for all TINs. So, consumers can apply by going to vouchers.gov.gr.

Through the platform, beneficiaries can submit applications to receive the financial aid to cover part of the increased household costs during the months from February to July 2023. In this way, Market Pass aims to alleviate the consequences it has brought about in households the increase in the consumer price index.

The aid amounts to 10% of the monthly amount of purchases and its amount starts from 22 euros per month for single-member households and is increased by 10 euros for each additional member of the household.

Beneficiaries of the Market Pass are all tax residents of Greece, as long as the declared family income for the tax year 2021 and the value of their real estate do not exceed the limits set according to the category of the household.

Beneficiaries can choose the way to receive the Market Pass financial support:

  • Issuing an immaterial digital card, which they will store on their smart phone and which they will show in their purchases. In this case, the beneficiaries will receive the total amount due to them in five installments (one installment for February and March 2023 and four monthly installments until July 2023).
  • Through direct payment of the subsidy amount to a bank account that they will declare, if they do not have a smart device or do not wish to use it in this process. In this case, the beneficiaries will receive 80% of the amount due to them in two quarterly installments.

The operation of the platform is very simple. The citizen enters the Market Pass using them Taxisnet codes either directly through vouchers.gov.gr, or from gov.gr, in the “Property and taxation” section and the “Citizen subsidies” subsection. At the same time, there is the possibility of submitting the application through KEP. All the citizen’s information is automatically retrieved, through the Interoperability Center of the General Secretariat of Public Administration Information Systems.

Market Pass was designed by the Minister of State and Digital Governance Kyriakos Pierrakakis, the Minister of Finance Christos Staikouras, the Minister of Development and Investments Adonis Georgiadis, the Deputy Minister of Finance Theodoros Skylakakis, the Deputy Minister of Digital Governance Theodoris Livanos, the Secretary General of Fiscal Policy of Thanos Petralia of the Ministry of Finance and the Secretary General of Public Administration Information Systems of the Ministry of Digital Governance Dimosthenes Anagnostopoulos, in accordance with what is defined in paragraph 5 of article 115 of Law 5007/2022 and under no. 1170/19-01-2023 and 1425/17-02-2023 Joint Ministerial Decisions. The platform was implemented by the Information Society (KtP MAE), a supervised body of the Ministry of Digital Governance, with the cooperation of the General Secretariat of Public Administration Information Systems and the Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE).

-What is Market Pass?

The Market Pass is a measure of economic support with the aim of covering part of the increased costs of households due to the significant increase in the consumer price index. The aid will be paid for six months, from February to July 2023.

-Who are the beneficiaries of the measure?

Beneficiaries of the aid are natural persons who are tax residents of Greece, as long as they meet the income and property criteria of the program. The basis for calculating whether a natural person is entitled to the Market Pass is the 2021 Tax Declaration, according to the following table:

What amount will I receive?

The amount that will be given as financial support is calculated as 10% of the monthly amount of purchases, which is set at 220 euros for a single-member household and is increased by 100 euros for each additional member of the household. Therefore, a single-member household will be supported next semester with 22 euros per month, while for each additional member of the household an additional 10 euros will be granted per month. Examples:

Married couple without children is entitled to 10% of 220 + 100 euros, i.e. 32 euros per month and a total of 192 euros (€32 x 6 months)
Single parent family with one child is entitled to 10% of 220 + 100 euros, i.e. 32 euros per month and a total of 192 euros (€32 x 6 months)
Divorced parent with two children is entitled to 10% of 220 + (2 x 100) euros, i.e. 42 euros per month and a total of 252 euros (€42 x 6 months)
Married couple with two children and a visiting member is entitled to 10% of 220 + (4 x 100) euros, i.e. 62 euros per month and a total of 372 euros (€62 x 6 months).
How do I get Market Pass?

Beneficiaries of the measure submit their application online at vouchers.gov.gr, using the credential codes of the General Secretariat of Public Administration Information Systems (Taxisnet). The applicant completes and updates their contact information and, in particular, their email address and mobile phone number. If “Deposit to a bank account” is selected as the method of granting, it is also necessary to fill in the IBAN of the personal bank account or an account in which the beneficiary is a joint beneficiary.

Beneficiaries can also submit their application from the local Citizen Service Centers (CSCs).

-When does the platform open for Market Pass?

The applications of natural persons in the special application are made in sections according to the expiring number of the A.F.M. their:

-Do I need to repeat the application process every month?

No. The application is submitted once and then the aid is automatically credited to the immaterial digital card or the beneficiary’s account.

-Can I correct the application I have submitted?

Yes, until May 2, 2023. However, it is clarified that it is not possible to change the method of payment of the aid, only to correct the data (eg wrong IBAN).

-When is the amount paid?

Beneficiaries who choose to issue an immaterial digital card will receive the aid as follows:

March 3 or 20 (depending on whether they submit the application before or after February 28) for the months of February and March
April 3 for the month of April
May 3 for the month of May
June 3 for the month of June and
July 3 for the month of July.

Beneficiaries who choose to deposit into a personal bank account will receive the aid as follows:

-Where and how do I use Market Pass?

The immaterial digital card is used (via the smartphone on which it will be installed) in POS that have Super Markets, grocery stores, butchers, pastry shops, dairy shops, bakeries and various food stores.

If depositing to a personal bank account is chosen, the amount can be used anywhere and in any way the beneficiary wishes.

-Until when can I use the intangible digital card of Market Pass?

The immaterial digital card is valid until the end of August 2023, after which it is deactivated.

-Do I have to spend part or all of the amount credited to my card to receive the next month’s boost?

No. The aid is paid regardless of the existence and amount of previous expenses.

-If I don’t spend the full amount credited to my card by the end of the month, do I lose it?

No, the unused amount each month remains on the card until the end of the program, i.e. until the end of August.
