The wife of the Prime Minister, Mareva Grabovski-Mitsotakis, visited mountainous Konitsa.

Ms. Mitsotakis attended the parade organized as part of events, for the celebration of the 110th anniversary of the Liberation of Konitsa from the Turkish yoke.

Crowds of people approached her, expressing the desire to take commemorative photos with her.

She herself, approachable and smiling, gladly responded to the call and did not miss the opportunity to chat with the young students who participated in the parade, as well as the residents of the area.

Ms. Mitsotaki said she was impressed by the parade, which was attended by children and students in impressive traditional costumes, as well as the armed forces and security forces. And all this in a majestic setting with imposing mansions.

The Mayor of Konitsa, Nikos Exarchou, warmly welcomed her at the event that was organized and offered her – among other things – photos by the Swiss Philhellenic photographer Fred Boissonnas, who through his lens immortalized Greece in 1920 in black and white masterpieces.

Mrs. Mitsotaki did not hide her surprise and emotion for this special gift, of great historical and artistic value.

The event was organized in the presence of the Speaker of the Parliament Konstantinos Tasoulas, the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy Giorgos Amyras, the Deputy Minister of Citizen Protection Eleftherios Economos and a number of political officials.

Her love for culture and the arts is reflected in her involvement with the Craftsmanship Council, whose goal is to promote traditional arts. Hence her choice to spend her free time near people who create and promote folk art.
