Police officers from the Directorate of Foreigners proceeded to dismantle an international criminal organization Thessalonikiwhen after an intensive and months-long investigation they verified the action of its members regarding the illegal promotion of immigrants inside the country.

In this context, yesterday morning, a large-scale police operation was organized in which two foreigners aged 25 and 29 were arrested, while three vehicles used for their illegal transport were confiscated.

Particularly, the 25 year old he allegedly had the role of director in the criminal organization, while the 29-year-old was his direct assistant.

In more detail, as emerged from the investigation, the members of the said organization promoted immigrants inside the country, providing them with temporary accommodation either on the Greek-Turkish border or in the urban complex of Thessaloniki.

To transport the migrants, they used vehicles that had been stolen or had been registered from abroad and the license plates were changed, while their drivers used physical violence against the migrants and transported them under particularly inhumane conditions in the luggage compartments of the vehicles.

As it was established, the members of the organization had carried out at least 10 cases of trafficking of illegal immigrants from Turkey to Greece, during which a total of 10 drivers-traffickers were arrested, while it was found that 73 illegal immigrants had been transported.

Also, 10 vehicles were seized, four of which were stolen and returned to their rightful owners.

It is noted that for each transfer of a foreigner, the organization earned between 3,000 and 4,000 euros, with their total profit exceeding 200,000 euros.

Finally, those arrested were brought before the competent judicial authorities.
