Prosecutor Eleni Touloupaki spoke for a day of vindication after she was acquitted by the majority, while her lawyers also made similar statements.

“Today is a day of vindication. The Special Court with its decision restored the truth. Under the current tragic conditions that all Greeks are experiencing, it becomes clear once again how important the independence of justice officials is for the justice of those who seek it. Those who sought to curtail the free spirit of the officers of Justice sought nothing less than unrestrained arbitrariness. Standing Justice means standing Greece! That’s why I promise I’ll stand up” said Eleni Touloupali.

“The acquittal of Mrs. Eleni Touloupakis is a resounding slap to the “untouchables”, i.e. the powerful of the economy and politics, who designed and built the well-known “theory of conspiracy” against them, with the aim of subordinating honest prosecutors and judges to the their orders.
Those who believe that they are above suspicion, criticism and ultimately the law have been defeated today, after their premeditated plan against prosecutors and journalists collapsed with a wave of the truth of an honest and brave public prosecutor, who did her duty to the fullest during the investigation of Novartis scandal, which her pursuers sought and unfortunately succeeded in remaining uninvestigated and in the deep darkness of the entanglement.

However, the Greek Judiciary, when it is independent and free, with its decisions offers citizens examples to follow and thus strengthens the rule of law and the democratic state.”

Vassilis Cheirdaris

“An unfair criminal prosecution against an honest and uncompromising prosecutor ended today with a solemn vindication.
The Special Court, composed of experienced and excellent supreme judges of the CA and the SC, irrevocably acquitted Mrs. Touloupaki.
It was not just an acquittal, it was the judicial reward of a woman who defended the purity of transactions, the protection of the state and citizens and tried to fight corruption, without discriminating, without counting the costs and without caring for herself.

Today is a victory for the institutions, it is a victory for those who fight for the public interest. It is a victory for the rule of law!”

Vangelis Georgakopoulos

“In the days of this great national tragedy, the acquittal of Eleni Touloupaki is not just her vindication, but the most timely message – an order to the Judges and Prosecutors that they should not hesitate to deal with the big political and economic interests as long as high as they are.”
