Part of the apology of the fatal Larissa station master, who was responsible for the movement of trains on the night of the tragedy with the 57 dead in Tempebrings to light SKAI.

The fatal station master allegedly stated to the investigator that after the incident, the pick-up and drop-off times of the shift were changed blankly.

“Station master Zindros instructed station master Kostas P. to sit until INTERCITY62 has passed. Each station master after his shift, delivers and receives the new one. This delivery-receipt is recorded in the respective book along with the start and end time of the previous shift. After the incident the drop-off time was corrected with a blank in the book kept in the station master’s office. I don’t remember the actual time we signed that I received. This particular book is always open in the station master’s office. I found that the time was fixed after the event.”

And it continues:

“In 1989 I was hired at OSE initially as a worker on the Pelion roller coaster and in 1990 I came to OSE Larisa, as a loader and then as a weigher and for 6 years a supervisor until the department was abolished. In 2011 I transferred to the primary education of Larissa. In July 2022 I returned to OSE as a station master based on the mobility positions that existed in Larissa.

Until 25/1/2023, only one station master served in each shift at the Larissa station. One breakfast, one afternoon and one dinner. From 25/1/2023 when we added another 14 stationmasters to the service, 2 were appointed to serve in the morning shift, 2 in the afternoon and one in the evening. This was determined by the 3rd inspection ordered by the administration.

On 14/2 I was on shift in Kalambaka, on the 15th and 16th I had a day off. On 17 and 18/2 I was the station master in Kalambaka by myself. On 19/2 I had a day off and on 20/2 I did an apprenticeship at Neios Poros. 21 and 22/2 I worked as a morning station master in Neios Poros. On 2/23 I did a night shift apprenticeship at the Larissa station together with the station master E.T. From 24 to 28/2 I had the night shift at the Larissa station by myself.”
