He made this observation the Minister of Tourism Vassilis Kikilias who today had a meeting with mayor of Kalamata Thanasis Vassilopoulos at the Ministry of Tourism. The object of the meeting was the further upgrading of the infrastructure of the area, the promotion of the city as well as the inclusion of the tourist season.

After the meeting the Minister of Tourism stated: “The promotion of Kalamata, Messinia, as a year-round tourist destination has become a reality. The tourist season started earlier than ever on February 19 with a direct flight from Munich. At the same time, the city is emerging as one of the most popular city break destinations for Greeks, while gradually hosting digital nomads from all over the world. All this strengthens the local economy and the local community, which combined with the large tourism and hotel investments create prospects for an excellent year. We have had an uninterrupted and fruitful collaboration with the Mayor of Kalamata all this time and in this context we discussed both the further upgrading of the infrastructure, such as the “Captain Vassilis Konstantakopoulos” International Airport and the Kalamata marina”

The Mayor of Kalamata he emphasized the following: “The dynamics that the tourism sector is developing, the messages that we are also receiving from the general course throughout Greece, are encouraging and make us optimistic. As the Municipality of Kalamata we invest in tourism, we invest in actions that strengthen the extroversion of our region.
