On the same day, a Protest Gathering will be held, at 10.00 am, outside the Federation Offices in Karaiskaki Square (Karolou 24-Athens) and a March to the K.E.D.E. Offices. (Academias 65 and Gennadiou 8-Athens) and to the Ministry of the Interior (Vas. Sofias 15-Athens)
With the permanence of contract workers at the forefront and the cessation of prosecutions against elected officials who did not exercise legal remedies against employees, the workers in the country’s Municipalities are on strike on April 10.
As the Federation of Local Government Employees states, among others: “The Executive Committee of P.O.E.-OTA. by its decision announces a 24-hour Pan-Hellenic Strike for Local Government staff on GREAT MONDAY, APRIL 10, 2023. On the same day, a Protest Rally will take place, at 10.00 am, outside the Federation Offices at Karaiskaki Square (Karolou 24-Athens) and March to the Offices of K.E.D.E. (Academias 65 and Gennadiou 8-Athens) and to the Ministry of the Interior (Vas. Sofias 15-Athens).
We claim:
24-hour nationwide strike in the Municipalities on Monday, April 10
The obligation to exhaust every legal remedy concerning employee claims should now be abolished.
The permanence of Contract Employees, who cover demonstrably permanent and lasting needs and work with recurring contracts in the Local Government.
To withdraw all disciplinary proceedings against Municipal Councils and Councilors who decided not to pursue legal remedies against employees, supporting the services of the Municipalities and the interest of the Citizens who elected them!!!
Recruitment of permanent staff in all Local Government services against the policy of obsolescence and privatization!!!».
