OASA contingency plan ahead of possible Omicron sick leave increase

by

The OASA has prepared a plan to deal with a possible increase in the sick leave of public transport workers due to the Omicron mutation. According to the Organization, as indicated in a relevant announcement of the administration, the operation of urban transport will be ensured in any case with the optimal utilization of the human resources of the OASA.

In particular, alternative bus and train routing programs have been developed, which will respond to various scenarios of reduction in the number of available drivers, but also depending on passenger traffic, which is estimated that overall public transport will be reduced due to the pandemic.

The specific routing schedules have been designed for all network lines, with priority given to high-demand lines during peak hours, taking into account the estimated availability of drivers per scenario.

In this way, depending on the passenger traffic and the mobility of the citizens, as it is expected due to the increase of cases, a satisfactory level of transport service will continue to be provided.

OSY and STASY are already taking all the necessary operational measures to make available, as much as possible, the staff that can work under these emergency conditions.

It is reminded that from the first moment measures have been taken and are applied continuously to protect the health of public transport workers during their working hours. The importance of using an enhanced protection mask in accordance with the instructions of the competent authorities is also emphasized.

It is noted that as the evolution of the pandemic is dynamic, the planning of the OASA will be constantly updated depending on the situation. Finally, according to the Organization, the design leaves room for flexibility and takes into account various possible scenarios for an increase in cases in our country.
