From the shock, mourning, anger and terror that followed the murder of Alkis Kampanos, they “passed” into the stage of creation
Teachers, parents, students and of course the “Building in the Name of Moose” with the valuable help of the Urban Act artistic group, took action and created yet another graffiti, wanting to convey the message that the sports unites, on the facade of the buildings of the 4th and 11th Primary School of Sykeon.
In the mural, two young men are depicted, who are walking in each other’s arms and holding a soccer ball. It is an image familiar to everyone who spent their childhood in parks and playgrounds. The message of the image, according to the contributors of the project, is the following: “Sport unites, does not kill”.
“It was a very pleasant surprise for us”
The people of the “Building in the Name of the Moose” approached the director of the 4th primary school of Sykeon, Sofia Asvesta, and asked her to create the special mural on the school’s facade.
“It was a pleasant surprise”, she said to the journalists during the presentation of the graffiti, noting that the result was a partnership of several people, as parents, students, clubs and also the three major football teams of Thessaloniki, tried in their own way so that the right messages are passed on to young students. The above even cooperated, in order to put their own stone so that Urban Act’s graffiti takes shape.
The mural, according to Ms. Asvesta, is a “constant reminder that only feelings of love and unity can arise through the spirit of sports fandom,” making it clear of course that Urban Act stands against fan violence.
The Urban Act against fan violence
“The theme of the mural reminds us of the old days: of play and joy,” said Kyriakos Iosifidis, coordinator of Urban Act.
Mr. Iosifidis thanked the managements of the two schools that hosted the artists for as long as they were creating the work, while he spoke about the agreement between the “Structure” and his team, regarding the continuation of their actions.
The messages of the mayor of Neapolis-Sykeon about fan violence
The mayor of Neapolis – Sykeon, Simos Danielidis, was also present in the shared courtyard of the two primary schools, who gave credit to all the contributors, saying that the municipality “always supports such bright examples”.
Mr. Danielidis was categorically against fan violence, saying that “we must strive, fight, strain and do whatever is necessary to consolidate a climate of solidarity, friendship, love and tenderness in our schools”.
The following actions
This is the second visual activity carried out by the “Structure in the Name of the Moose”, in a school in Thessaloniki, after the very beautiful mural created by the people of “Structure” and Urban Act at the 11th Primary School of Kalamaria.
The member of the Board of Directors of the Structure, Alexandros Tsibilis, spoke about the battle that society must fight against hatred and violence, while he emphasized that the action of the two did not end today.
“We have decided that we will use this program to give the school buildings the messages that we want to accompany the children, within the framework of the third axis of the structure, which is to change the fan culture and promote the sports fan spirit”, he underlined Mr. Tsibilis, while the elementary school students “flooded” the yard with their voices and play.
The sponsors of today’s project were the companies OkGrocery, Vivechrom, Capsis Hotel, while the project was also supported by the companies Flame and Zisimopoulos SA
The continuation of the program will take place in schools throughout Greece, which are expected to be announced by the contributors.
