A 23-year-old man who arrived in Chios brought raw cannabis as well as contraband cigarettes in his luggage, as was found after checks by the competent Port Authority.

In more detail, according to the announcement of the authorities, the arrest of a 23-year-old foreigner was carried out in the morning hours today by officers of the Regional Drug Prosecution Team (PODIN) in collaboration with officers of the security office of the Port Authority of Chios for violation of the law on addictive substances (L. 4139/2013) and the National Customs Code (L. 2960/2001).

More specifically, during an inspection carried out during the berthing of the E/G-O/G ship at the port of Chios, coming from the port of Piraeus, the above was found to have in his hand luggage, one (01) plastic package which contained raw cannabis with a total weight of twelve grams (12gr) and thirty-eight (38) packs of cigarettes, all of which did not have the official excise tax tape.

The Central Port Authority of Chios, which conducts the preliminary investigation, seized the above found items.
