“To strengthen the Ephorate of Antiquities of the Cyclades with personnel immediately, so that the archaeological control in Mykonos is strengthened and that in no case are the responsibilities of the regional service transferred to the central service of the Ministry of Antiquities, in violation of the Organization”, they call, among others, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, with their joint announcement, the Association of Greek Archaeologists, the Unified Association of Employees of the Ministry of Attica and Islands and the Panhellenic Union of Antiquities Conservators.

The YPPOA unions express their thanks to the local community of Mykonos for their support in their struggle “for not covering up the mafia attack on the archaeologist Manolis Psarros and for eliminating the causes that give rise to such mafia attacks”.

“Pandimi was the condemnation of the beating of our colleague and the threats received by another colleague via text and the desire to support the work of the Archaeological Service in Mykonos and to isolate those financial interests that act illegally and arbitrarily, even using mafia practices. This was expressed both in the unanimous resolution of the Mykonos Municipal Council no. 65/2023, as well as at the meeting of the agencies on 27/3 in Grypario, where the mayor, deputy mayors, municipal councilors, regional councilors, party representatives, representatives of labor unions, representatives of cultural associations of the island, citizens, teachers attended and spoke , tour guides, businessmen”, the unions state, among other things.

At the same time, they express their satisfaction “for the publication of the issue of arbitrariness and constructions in violation of archaeological legislation” and expect “the implementation of the law in Mykonos and all the islands of the Cyclades, in order to protect the natural and cultural landscape and sustainability of the islands”.
