In view of the celebration of May Day, the unions are calling for rallies.

In Athens GSEE and the labor center of Athens – EKA are calling at Klathmonos square at 11am.

In their announcement they state that: “The GSEE calls all workers, pensioners, the unemployed, to the 24-hour General Strike for Labor Day, on Monday, May 1st, at the Trade Union Rally at 11.00 am in Klathmonos Square and at the local events of Labor Centers, participating in the world day of solidarity and struggles for the collective and individual rights of workers, social justice and world peace.

ADEDY which calls together with GSEE and EKA in Klathmonos squarestates among other things (see the entire announcement): “In the past period on the occasion of the crime of Tempe, thousands of workers took to the streets to protest against the barbaric policies being practiced.

The mass strike mobilizations on March 8 and 16 are a legacy for the struggles to come.

This year’s May Day celebration, for public and private sector workers, is the starting point for unifying – decisive struggles to overthrow neoliberal policies.”

PAME calls to Syntagma at 11am and in his statement (read the full text) he states among other things: “The 1st MAH as a day of remembrance, action and struggle calls us to face the source of the suffering faced by the vast majority of the working people, the basic opposition between capital and labor . In other words, the accumulation of wealth created by the many and its seizure by a parasitic handful of few who appropriate all this wealth, handing over poverty and impoverishment to its producers”.
