The head of the GEETHA, general Konstantinos Floros, met yesterday, Wednesday, April 26, in his office with the American general e.a. David Petraeus, president of the KKR Global Institute.

The general e.a. David Petraeus served over 37 years in the US Armed Forces, holding senior positions at the UN, NATO, US Central Command, Iraq, Afghanistan and the CIA.

As announced, at the meeting, they discussed issues of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on regional security challenges, as well as the adverse consequences of revisionism and its implications regarding the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. They also exchanged views on the prevailing unstable situation in Syria, Libya, Lebanon and recently in Sudan.

The GEETHA leader referred to the challenges that Greece has faced effectively in previous years and continues to face successfully, and emphasized the decisive role that our country plays as a pillar of stability and security in the South-Eastern Wing of NATO and in the wider region, both in Allied as well as at the European level.

He highlighted the bilateral, tripartite and multilateral collaborations he has developed at the military level with all the countries of the Balkans, with most Arab countries as well as with Israel, which aim to create a network of relations that promotes peace and stability in the wider region.

He also referred to the use of the infrastructures of Souda, Alexandroupolis and Volos to support the Armed Forces of the US and the Alliance, and to the multi-level Military Cooperation between Greece and the US which, in addition to updating the Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement, includes operational cooperation activities and co-education are constantly being strengthened both numerically and qualitatively.
