The expatriate candidate for mayor of Himarra, Freddy Beleris, remains in custody, according to information, which was also confirmed to by the journalist of the expatriate site, himara.gr, Thodoris Goumas.
Among the three arrested, apart from Beleris, is also his close associate, Pantelis Kokavesiswho has a heart condition and has undergone a heart transplant.
The diaspora invites voters not to be afraid of the latest developments and to go vote in the elections.
In announcement by the Union of Chimarriots states: “This Sunday the people of Himarra have decided to elect a mayor with their vote. The messages from the villages, the rallying of the residents in Himara and the massive participation from Greece ensure the victory of Fredis Beleris at the ballot box.
Knowing the regime practices followed by the Albanian prime minister for so many years, we had no hope that it would be a normal match. In recent weeks, he has used every illegal method by demeaning the concept of the Prime Minister to change the result. We will not allow him to succeed.
The people of Himara have suffered too much for twelve years now to give up their right to democratically elect their mayor. The people of Himara deserve to have the mayor they choose.
Beleris was forcibly brought in without charge, with one and only purpose: to scare his voters so that they would not go to the polls and leave the mayorship free to his chosen Rama.
We call on all our compatriots not to give in. We assure them that they have nothing to fear. On Sunday we will vote en masse and on Monday Beleris will be mayor”.

Meanwhile, the foreign minister Nikos Dendias contacted the Prime Minister of Albania Eddie Ramaaccording to diplomatic sources, for the arrest in Albania of three people, including the candidate for mayor in the Municipality of Heimarra with the KEAD Dionysi-Fredi Beleri.
According to the same sources, earlier, Mr. Dendias had informed the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis about the issue.
