The voting process of expatriate Greeks in Germany, the country with the most polling stations outside of Greece, was completed yesterday smoothly and with a large turnout of registered voters. For “a solid foundation so that this process, the participation, becomes even stronger in the future”, the Greek ambassador in Berlin, Mara Marinaki, spoke to APE-MPE.

In Germany, 17 polling stations operated in 15 cities for 3,326 voters, with the largest concentration found in Berlin, where 679 were registered, and in Munich, with 627 registered. In the new building of the Greek embassy, ​​in the “diplomats’ square”, 568 voters came to vote, while the picture was similar in the other polling stations in Germany, in Munich, Stuttgart, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne, Nuremberg, Aachen, Hanover, Dortmund, Wuppertal, Dresden, Ludwigshafen.

In her statements to APE-MPE immediately after the closing of the ballot box, the ambassador of Greece in Berlin, Mara Marinaki, stated that the process was completed smoothly and expressed her pride, “because it was a huge bet for all of us, while in Germany most things worked electoral divisions outside Greece. “It was a new process for everyone”, stressed Mrs. Marinaki and described as impressive “the pulse, the great willingness of our expatriates to participate in the elections”. Indicatively, in Berlin and Dresden, as he said, the participation rate reached 80%. “I believe that we have laid a solid foundation for this participation to become even stronger in the future, Mrs. Marinaki concluded.
