1904: The World Football Federation (FIFA) is founded in Paris.

1924: A resolution is submitted to the Hellenic Parliament for the establishment of a Senate, which will be a legislative body and will be a barrier against the omnipotence of the prime ministers. It will operate from 1929 to 1935.

1930: The Minister of Education, George Papandreou, implements his educational reform, which is based on the reformation of the primary school as six-grade, independent and compulsory.

1971: Chelsea wins the European Cup Winners’ Cup at the Karaiskaki Stadium, beating Real Madrid 2-1 in the replay final. In the qualifiers, Chelsea eliminated Aris 1-1 and 5-1.

1995: The first demolition with dynamite in Greece takes place, in the 15-story building of the Red Cross, which has been unfinished for 30 years, at the junction of Mesogeion and Shliman streets.

2005: The 50th Eurovision Song Contest takes place in Kyiv, Ukraine. The winner on behalf of Greece is Elena Paparizou, with the song “My Number One”, with music by Christos Dantes and lyrics by Natalia Germanos. It is the first victory of Greece in its 31 years of participation in the institution.

1902: Leonidas Zervas, Greek chemist, world authority on peptide synthesis (Bergman-Zerva synthesis). (D. 10/7/1980)

1921: Andrei Zakharov, Soviet physicist and activist. He fought for human rights in his country and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, which he refused. (D. 14/12/1989)

2006: Gerasimos Vassilopoulos, Greek businessman, founder of the food chain “Alpha Beta Vassilopoulos S.A.” and the “Food Bank for the Fight against Hunger” foundation. (Born 1917)

2018: Vassilis Triantafyllidis, Greek actor and writer, known as Harry Clynn. (Born 7/5/1940)
