More than 12 kg heroin hidden inside a spare tire (spare) were found and seized by the police on Tuesday night in a vehicle, in toll booth of Malgari in Thessaloniki.

At the same time, the two passengers of the car – a leader and a member of a criminal organization – who were active in the supply, possession and trafficking of narcotics, were arrested.

In particular, as part of an organized operation, police officers from the General Affairs Department of the Narcotics Prosecution Sub-Directorate of the Thessaloniki Security Directorate, with the assistance of police officers from the Thessaloniki Direct Action Directorate, arrested 33 years old foreigner – leader of a criminal organization and 27 years old country – member of the criminal organization.

On the evening of 05-23-2023, the above were spotted driving a passenger car carwhich was stopped for a check at the Malgara toll road and in the possession of the 27-year-old, a small amount of raw cannabis and a sum of money were found and confiscated, as coming from drug trafficking.

In a subsequent check on the perpetrators’ vehicle, they were found, carefully hidden, inside the spare tire (spare wheel) and seized, 12 kilograms and 200 grams of heroin, packed in 25 parcels.

From the further police investigation, it emerged that the 33-year-old foreigner, with a direct collaborator of the 27-year-old, procured large quantities of heroin, which they stored and organized their transport and further trafficking within the Greek territory and mainly in the urban complexes of Thessaloniki and Athens.

It is noted that, the 33-year-old arrested, has in the past occupied the Police Authorities for robbery and aggravated theft by complicity.

The two arrested, with the case filed against them, for a criminal organization in combination with a violation of the Drug Law, will be brought to the Criminal Prosecutor of Thessaloniki.
