The Athens Security Sub-Directorate made 13 arrests in a special operation aimed at dealing with “street crimes”, in the wider area of ​​the center of Athens, which took place on the two days of May 25 and 26. At the same time, 9 thefts in houses and buildings were solved, while at least 3 more people are included in the case files that were filed.

In particular, according to ELAS data:

-A foreigner was arrested and a case file was filed against two more people for their participation in a robbery with particular cruelty that took place in February 2023 in Kallithea.

-A foreigner, who worked as a domestic helper, was arrested and a case was filed against her for repeated thefts.

There was a complaint, according to which the foreigner was stealing items and money from the house where she worked. In a search carried out in her home and in her possession, the following were found and confiscated: a gold brooch, a gold ladies wristwatch, a gold neck chain with a gold medallion and 370 euros.

-Arrest of a foreigner for drugs, weapons, acceptance and distribution of proceeds of crime, as well as violence against officials and judicial persons.

During an investigation, the following were found and confiscated: 10 pocketknives, a small amount of drugs, 2 metal locks, a number of house keys and a vehicle key, a mobile phone, 28 wrist and pocket watches, 7 swords, 3,885 euros, 20 collector’s coins as well as a collection of currency.

-Arrest of a foreigner and formation of a case file against at least one more person, for their participation in a robbery with particular cruelty against minors on 05/15/2023 in Athens.

In a search carried out yesterday morning (26/052023) at the foreigner’s house, a knife type knife was found and confiscated and therefore he was arrested.

– Arrest of 9 people for – as the case may be, accepting and disposing of proceeds of crime as well as violations of the arms legislation and the National Customs Code

In particular, following the use of information about people hiding weapons and stolen goods in houses as well as a person involved in a case of selling quantities of copper, nine people were arrested and charges were filed against them for – as the case may be – accepting and disposing of the proceeds of crime as well as violations of legislation on weapons and the National Customs Code.

Searches carried out found and confiscated: 3 mobile phones, 9 wristwatches, 20 packs of cigarettes without a tax label, a military-style knife, 3 butterfly-type folding knives, 3 mobile phones, a total amount of copper weighing 226 kg, a plastic box containing copper and a cutter /bitch (object used to cut wires).

Finally, five regular procedure files were filed against nine people for – as the case may be, distinguished thefts by continuation, theft as well as a gang that commits completed thefts by profession, by habit, by complicity and by continuation, with the pursuit of financial gain, specifically the finding their income, while nine cases of theft from houses and buildings were investigated.

In particular, it is about:

-a foreigner, who, as emerged from the investigation, in February 2023, committed two thefts in Kypseli,

-a foreigner, who in February 2023, committed a theft in Kaisariani,

– locked up in a detention center, who in December 2022, committed a theft in Kallithea,

-five people, who between September and December 2019 committed four thefts in Ampelokipis, Kypseli, Colonos and Exarchia as well as

-foreigner, who in March 2023, committed theft in Athens.
