The President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, together with Doctors of the World and the Love Dinner organized a street work action in the port of Piraeus, in order to offer substantial help to our vulnerable fellow human beings on Thursday night where low temperatures prevailed.
Covid-19 masks, personal protective equipment for the cold, were distributed at the event, while the chef of the Presidency of the Republic, Vassilis Bekas, prepared portions of hot food distributed by Mrs. Sakellaropoulou. Doctors of the World volunteers also provided psychosocial support and information about the pandemic vaccination. The President of the Republic was accompanied by the Secretary General of Social Solidarity and the Fight against Poverty, George Stamatis.
The interventions of street work of Doctors of the World with Mobile Units in areas where the homeless population is concentrated, are a systematic effort to address the health effects caused by living on the street and aim to protect the right to health for all.
