The unfortunate 36-year-old woman who was brutally stabbed by her 35-year-old partner, inside their home on Erganous Street in Heraklion, has been hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of the University Hospital of Heraklion since the early hours of Monday.

The 36-year-old had received 14 stab wounds all over her body, underwent a long-hour surgery with doctors making great efforts to keep her alive due to the large amount of blood she had lost.

They finally succeeded and her condition is described as extremely serious, but stable.

The 35-year-old who self-injured himself in the abdomen with the same knife was taken to the same hospital where the wound was treated and is being treated under guard, without his life being in danger.

According to the first information, the couple had a heated argument for personal reasons on the balcony of the house, where the man managed to stab the unfortunate woman several times, who managed to escape and enter the yard of a neighboring house, having lost a large amount of blood.

The neighbors immediately alerted the police, EKAV, and the fire brigade as the man tried to set fire to the house. At the same time, he stabbed himself in the abdomen.

Two EKAV ambulances arrived in the area, one took the woman badly beaten but conscious, while the other took the man who did not appear to be seriously injured.

At the same time, two vehicles of the Fire Service arrived, which in the end did not have to intervene, as the fire had been extinguished by the perpetrator’s parents who live in the apartment above, as well as a strong force of the police.
