Her proposal is in the final stretch and the “therefore” is expected as to the guilt of the defendants
Outlining in detail the role and participation of the last 6 defendants (7th to 12th) in the execution of the murder of Alkis Kampanos and the wounding of his two friends, the prosecutor of the Mixed Jury Court Kyriaki Kliaba continues since the morning – and for the 3rd day, the her purchase of the highly acclaimed case.
She had made a similar report yesterday for the first six defendants, while her proposal is in the final stretch and the “thereby” is expected as to the guilt of the defendants.
Evaluating the evidence, the witness statements and the apologies of the accused, the prosecutor Kyriaki Kliaba conveyed the following conclusions to the judges of the Criminal Court of Thessaloniki:
– For the 7th accused, he said that “he was not a spectator” and that he “went to contribute and assist in the taking of life”, while he described his defense claims as ignorant.
– The 8th defendant (as well as the 6th), according to the prosecutor’s proposal, did not reach the “battlefield” because he did not have time. “It appears from the video that he was preparing to move towards the scene of the murder. He may not have arrived, but his assistance is essential and decisive,” he said.
– For the 9th defendant, who confessed to holding a knife, of the “karabit” type, he said that “he also put his rock in the 40-second drama”, hitting both Alkis and his best friend. “He wasn’t a spectator either,” Ms. Kliaba noted, adding that he told “some truths” in relation to his co-accused. “He confessed things that others didn’t have the courage to confess, he didn’t hide behind his finger,” he said.
– “With full awareness of his actions, he hit both Alki and his two friends with the sickle,” Ms. Kliaba emphasized about the 10th defendant, whom she had called a “samurai” in the previous days. The controversial episode “awakened in him memories of the unquenchable hatred for the eternal rival”, he added.
– In the “frame” of those who actively participated in the murderous episode, the public prosecutor also placed the 11th defendant, who confessed that he was holding a steliari. “He weighed mercilessly and barbarically along with the others, so that all of them with their converging actions took lives”, were the words of the prosecutor.
– Rejecting the claim of the 12th accused that he was a “taxi driver” simply transporting three of his co-accused with his car, the prosecutor pointed out that “he was also there and hit with his own knife”. “He also put his own “stone” in the execution of the plan to exterminate the opponents,” he said characteristically, attributing to him an active and decisive role in the commission of the crime. He described him as very intelligent and particularly cruel, adding that his attitude in court was apathetic and himself unmoved.
Commenting generally on the attitude of the 12 defendants in the courtroom, Ms Kliaba said their silence was “deafening” and “monstrous lies” were employed – not spontaneously, but pre-planned and manufactured, she said. Addressing the defendants, she emphasized that “they didn’t score away from home, but scored 12 awesome own goals”.
